Girls trip

The trip you keep saying you'll take. No occasion needed — just go.

A 2-night weekend escape for a group of women who have been meaning to do this for way too long. No bride, no agenda pressure, no matching sashes required. Just a destination, a house or hotel, and two uninterrupted days for the friendships that don't get enough time.

Group size: 4–10 people

Why this plan works

Girls trips work because they give the group permission to prioritize the friendship without attaching it to anyone else's milestone. There's no 'reason' required — which is exactly the point. The 2-night weekend format is the sweet spot: long enough to actually decompress, short enough that jobs, partners, and kids don't become obstacles to getting a yes. Shared accommodation is key — splitting a house keeps everyone together, keeps costs lower than a hotel block, and turns the kitchen and the porch into the default hangout. Start planning 6–10 weeks out and use a vote to lock the date before the destination, not after.

Suggested timeline

  1. Friday afternoon — Check in + settle: Stagger arrivals around 3–5 PM. First in unlocks the door and claims a bedroom (pre-assign rooms in the group chat to prevent drama). Welcome drinks ready on the counter.
  2. Friday evening — First dinner together: Low-key Friday meal — a reservation nearby or a house cook-together. The point is everyone around the same table before the real weekend begins.
  3. Saturday morning — Slow start: Coffee, pastries, no schedule. The morning is deliberately unstructured. Let the group wake up at its own pace.
  4. Saturday afternoon — The main activity: One shared plan: a spa afternoon, a wine tasting, a hike, a beach day, a cooking class. One, not three — keep the day from becoming a logistics marathon.
  5. Saturday night — The big night out: Dinner reservation at a proper spot, then wherever the night goes from there. This is the anchor memory of the trip.
  6. Sunday morning — Send-off brunch: Relaxed checkout morning. A long brunch — either out or at the house — and a slow goodbye before everyone heads home.

Venue ideas

  • Rented house or cabin
  • Boutique hotel block
  • Beach or lake town rental
  • Mountain or wine country getaway

Tips

  • Vote on the date before you pick the destination — you'll lose half your options if you start the other way.
  • Pre-assign bedrooms in the group chat before arrival; the alternative is a politically charged arrival-day negotiation.
  • One group activity per day maximum — the rest of the time is unstructured on purpose.
  • Split costs in real time with a shared tab app (Splitwise, etc.) so nobody's doing mental math at checkout.
  • Designate one person as the logistics point — they don't plan everything, but they own the single shared doc with addresses, reservation details, and the checkout time.
  • Build in one 'no plans' afternoon. The conversation that happens when you're not trying to do something is usually the best part.
