1. Information We Collect

When you use GetTogether, we may collect the following information:

• Email address — provided when creating an event, joining as a participant (optional), or signing in to your account.
• Name — provided when creating an event or joining as a participant.
• Event data — event titles, descriptions, locations, date options, place options, votes, and itineraries you create.
• Payment information — processed securely through Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers on our servers.
• Approximate location and IP address — captured at signup so we can send region-relevant event suggestions and country-aware reminders. Used internally only.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and manage events, date polls, and voting.
• Send email notifications about your events (new participants, votes, finalized dates).
• Process payments and manage subscriptions.
• Provide AI-powered itinerary suggestions.
• Improve the app and fix issues.

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the following third-party services that are necessary to operate GetTogether:

• Stripe — for payment processing.
• Resend — for sending email notifications.
• OpenAI — for generating AI itinerary suggestions. Event details (location, group size, preferences) may be sent to OpenAI to generate itineraries.
• Twilio — for sending SMS event reminders to guests who opt in. Your phone number is transmitted to Twilio solely to deliver messages you have requested.
• Google Analytics — for understanding how people use the app.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored in a secure PostgreSQL database. We use HTTPS encryption for all data in transit. Payment information is handled entirely by Stripe and never touches our servers.

5. Cookies & Local Storage

We use session cookies to keep you signed in. We also use localStorage to remember your participant identity on events you have joined, so you do not need to rejoin each time you return.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account and event data for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion, we remove your personal information from our primary systems within 30 days, subject to any legal retention obligations. Event data associated with your events may be anonymized rather than deleted so other participants' records remain intact.

7. Your Rights

You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at hello@gettogetherplanner.com. You can also unsubscribe from email notifications by managing your preferences on each event.

8. Phone Numbers & SMS

Providing a phone number is entirely optional. If you choose to provide one and opt in via the checkbox on the RSVP form, GetTogether Planner LLC may send you SMS event reminders via Twilio (our SMS delivery provider). By checking the opt-in box you consent to receive these messages from GetTogether Planner LLC. Message and data rates may apply. You can revoke consent at any time by replying STOP to any message — you will receive one confirmation and no further messages. Your phone number is used only for event reminders; it is not used for marketing unrelated to your event, and is not sold.

9. Children's Privacy

GetTogether is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of any material changes by posting the updated policy on this page with a revised date.
